Since our last update we have been very pleased to welcome McCartney’s Of Moira, Whitewaters Deli in Wendover, Melanie’s Kitchen in Downend, The Hampstead Butcher & Providore in Hampstead, FairEssentials, Thornton’s Budgens in Crouch End, Clark & Ravenscroft in Norwich, Kendrick Street Deli in Stroud, Dart’s Farm in Devon and Owen’s Food Store in Muswell Hill as our newest stockists. We would like to thank our all our stockists for helping us to reach even more customers and fans of our products. We hope to announce more stockists over the coming weeks.
Our new baobab products have proved a real hit with customers many of whom had heard of or seen the tree but did not know it bore such nutritious and versatile fruit. As a result of this success, we are already working on some new recipes containing this wonderful ingredient so watch this space!
February also saw the completion of our switch over to Tamari gluten-free soy sauce and Carotino oil in all relevant sauces. The switch to Tamari means many more of our products are now completely free of any gluten containing ingredients and we are looking at how best to show this information on future labels.
A chance encounter late last year with some members of “From the Sauce”- one of the UK’s best BBQ competition teams led to us becoming one of their official sponsors earlier this month. They loved our Hot Tangy BBQ Sauce so much they decided to abandon their long search for a great BBQ sauce and use ours. One conversation led to another and we are now extremely pleased that our BBQ Sauces (they love our new Smoky Baobab BBQ Sauce too!) is now the sauce they will be using in competitions and their other bbq-ing activities. We hope to work together on some joint projects in the near future.
Earlier this month, we had the opportunity to host tastings at Stein’s Delis in Cornwall, mmm… in Newcastle and Budgens in Belsize Park. They were all great opportunities to introduce new customers to our products and to answer any questions about our range and the intriguing ingredients we use. We hope to do more later in the year starting with Ardkeen Quality Food Store in Waterford, Ireland this Thursday.
Finally, we were absolutely delighted to have been appointed as an official partner of the 2012 Sunday Times Oxford Literary Festival. A selection of our unique, African-inspired products will be presented to guests at an exclusive dinner to be hosted in March at the Queen’s College Oxford by Patty Boulaye. The dinner is in honour of Booker prize winner Ben Okri, the Nigerian poet and novelist who, earlier in the day, will be launching Wild, his first collection of poetry in more than a decade. And for this we would like to say a BIG thank you to our great supporter and friend Jessica B. Harris for kindly suggesting us to the organisers. We hope the guests will enjoy our chosen selection as much as our many customers and fans have.
A big thank you to all our customers and fans, new and old.
James “Bim” and Nicola
